Whether you create a new Community server from scratch or convert your existing one, you need to create a Welcome Screen for the new users. Setting up a Welcome Screen helps the new members know what activities they can do in the different channels.
With the Discord app or website open, click on your Community server’s name to bring up the drop-down menu and select “Server Settings.”
Select the “Welcome Screen” under the “Community” section on the left-hand column, and then click the “Set Up Welcome Screen” button on the right-hand side.
Next, Discord will ask you to set a recommended channel that all of the new members should visit first. It could be the rules, general, or any other channel that you’ve made.
Under the “What do people do in this channel” option, select an emoji and write a brief description of activities to do in the chosen channel. Once you’re done, click the “Save” button.
The Welcome Screen set-up window shows an error for the top 5 recommended channels that Discord automatically populates for your server. You can delete or customize them to remove the errors. For instance, you can connect the recommended “Please read the rules” channel with the “Rules” channel that you created while setting up the server.
Click the “Edit” button next to the “Please read the rules” channel.
Use the dropdown to select “Rules,” or whatever you’ve set as the name for the Rules channel. Or else, you can hit “Remove” to delete that channel from the list of the Welcome Screen message. Then, repeat the same process for the other channels.
Finally, add a server description.
Hit the Preview button if you want to see how the Welcome Screen looks.
Check that everything looks fine in the Welcome Screen preview.
Then, press Esc to close it. Once you’ve made the changes to the Welcome Screen content, hit the “Enable” button in the top-right corner.
That’s it. When people join your Community server, the custom Welcome Screen will help them find out what they can do on the server. Also, you can run deals, auctions, and sales on your Community server if you plan to use Discord for your Business.
