Using Google Chrome? The RingCentral Extension Is The Easiest Solution
If you’re a RingCentral MVP customer already and you’ve standardized on Google Chrome, the easiest way to integrate into Microsoft Teams is to simply use their Chrome extension, which makes it extremely easy to trigger phone calls and video meetings directly from Microsoft Teams.
The best part is that the extension isn’t limited to Teams—in fact, it works across all of Microsoft Office 365, including in Outlook. The extension can:
- Schedule meetings natively from Outlook
- Easily call or SMS text contacts from the contact cards in Office 365
- Make and receive calls directly from Office or Teams
- View all RingCentral and Office contacts together
- Click-to-call any phone number that appears in email messages
- a whole lot more…
Since Google Chrome is widely used everywhere, this option works for a lot of people. But you’re not limited to using an extension, so keep reading for the rest of the options.
Integrate The RingCentral App Directly Into Microsoft Teams
If you’re a Microsoft Edge or Safari user, or you want RingCentral to integrate into the mobile app, you can also integrate the RingCentral app directly from the Microsoft Teams app screen. Just click to add an app and search for “RingCentral” and it’ll come right up.
It’s worth noting that since we’re integrating the RingCentral app into Teams, you’ll need to also have the regular RingCentral desktop or mobile apps installed on your device.
Once you add the app and it shows up on the left-hand bar, you can Pin the app for easy access going forward, which will definitely make it more convenient.
The first time you open the RingCentral app you’ll need to go through the setup process, which involves signing into your accounts and authorizing everything. You’ll need to have an account with sufficient permission to do this.
If you’ve got a bigger organization or want to install it across the board for everybody, you may want to follow RingCentral’s official documentation, which will require somebody with administrator access to set it up in Azure and give the right permissions there.
Once you have everything configured—and it’s worth noting that RingCentral has extremely helpful technical support people should there be any questions—you’ll be able to simply use the dialer app to make phone calls directly in the interface. This will launch the RingCentral application to complete the call.
You can search through your Teams contacts just like you’d expect.
And from any chat or card screen, you can use the RingCentral icon or commands to trigger a meeting or a call with a contact or team.
From the contact card you can even schedule a meeting in the future if you’d like.
As you can see, the features of this integration are similar to the Chrome extension, but they work across all browsers. The main benefit of using the Chrome extension, however, is that you can integrate across all of Office 365, which is a bit more useful.
